Frequently asked questions

Where are the signals from the analysts?

Rows that have a green Buy button are an entry signal. They also have a Sell button, in case you want to manually sell or close before the analyst sends a SELL.

The rows that have only a SELL button are scaling out of trades by the analyst, or an automatic hit of price targets at levels set in User Settings. As some analysts may have a larger position, they may issue multiple scale-outs according to their size, but in a user account only the available position will be closed.

Do I have to click the Buy and Sell buttons, or can the system trade automatically?

All alerts can be taken in full auto mode, where the user does not need to do anything unless they want to override system targets and stops.

For manual control, a user can buy, sell, close or cancel by clicking buttons in the Signal region, Position region, or Waiting Order region.

What is the function of the Waiting Orders section?

As soon as a position is opened, the pending order to sell is created in the Waiting Order region at the preset profit target % in User Settings.

Sell price or quantity can be easily changed in the Waiting Order section to override the system's default sell calculation. Orders in Waiting are held in system memory and not sent to the broker until the target price is reached.

Does the platform use bracket orders?

Very few brokers provide bracket orders (sell orders and stops all at the same time). Our platform manages brackets by holding profit sell orders in the system and sending stop orders to the broker, to protect the account in case of extreme volatility.

How is order size determined, and can we preset different trade sizes per analyst?

A user can preset a default amount for each trade, plus profit targets and stops, for each algo or analyst individually from the User Settings screen in the menu.

The system allows defining amounts for risky/lotto alerts, day trades and swings separately. So if a user does not want to take lotto/risky trades, they can set the risky amount = 0 or swing amount = 0.

What is the use of the (+/-) tolerance on a signal and in User Settings?

Tolerance determines how much to chase the entry signal so we don't miss a profitable trade — by the time an analyst posts an alert, prices may have moved further.

By experience we arrive at the best tolerance value for a given analyst. For some analysts, chasing the entry to within .15c is still profitable for 10–15% or more.

Is there a way to stop taking trades past a certain time?

This can be managed by setting the max number of winning trades for an analyst in a day. Most analysts are done with winning trades in the first 2 hours of the day.

How does the system manage a position whose profit target was 1.21 but price went only to 1.20?

The system tightens stops at multiple levels. Using the min_profit_trig setting, you can tighten stops to whatever % you like. For example, if the original stop was 30%, tighten to about 10–15% of the original stop, and sometimes to within 5–10% of purchase price, depending on the analyst.

At what price are buy orders executed — market or limit?

If the alert price is between the current ask and bid, or the ask is less than the alert price + tolerance, the system buys at market to avoid missing the trade.

Sells are mostly sent at market so as not to miss when the mid of ask/bid matches our limit price — or when an analyst issues a sell at decent profit, it will sell at market if the spread is reasonable or the ask/bid is above your purchase price.

How does it calculate amount per trade?

For a contract priced at $160 with a max amount per trade of $250, it will trade only 1 contract — it won't go higher than the max amount.

There is another setting where you can fix the number of contracts per play instead of the amount. With that setting, even if the contract price is .50 it will buy only the set number of contracts, instead of more as it would with an amount-based setting.

What is the use of the "sell if spread less than" setting?

'Sell if spread less than .10 or .15' is used to sell at market if the spread is not too wide. Analysts often issue a sell late when price is dropping and you don't want to be holding the bag.

Selling a ticker with a spread wider than .10 or .15 at market can cause a bigger loss due to the spread, so you have to decide whether to use a stop or sell at market.

Can I limit each analyst to only their best tickers?

Yes — limit each analyst to the tickers you like using the whitelist in User Settings. Only the tickers in the whitelist will be taken for that analyst; if the whitelist is empty, all ticker alerts are taken.

Does max trades just limit the total number of trades in a day for that analyst?

It stops after consecutive wins equal that number, to minimize risk. If max_trades is set to 2, the system keeps taking trades for that analyst until they have 2 consecutive wins.

For example, an analyst who gives 4–5 alerts a day with a high win rate and only 1–2 losses: you may want to stop as soon as 2 consecutive wins are achieved, to avoid the next trade being a loser.

How can I avoid taking risky, lotto or swing trades?

There are separate fields in User Settings for risky trades, day trades and swing trades. Risky and lotto are the same — set the amount to 0 if you don't want them. Likewise set the swing amount to 0 to skip swing trades.

This can be set at the analyst level, so you may trust the risky trades of one analyst and not another.

How is a neutral play determined?

Generally neutral is when the play is within +/- 5% — it can't be called a win or a loss.
